Topic
Textile Air Dispersion Systems: Real world applications, sustainability, and creative solutions
Overview
First developed for food processing, the use of textile for air dispersion has opened into a wide range of applications and uses. Considering each system is custom fabricated for each application, the design considerations can seem overwhelming, but are easier when kept focused on the task of dispersing airflow. In this presentation, we’ll talk very little about the fabric and more about the options to ensure it looks good and lasts longer (structure and suspension). Air dispersion systems, which is the building code classification (UL, IMC, UMC) are carefully sized to allow very flexible options from an air delivery – but we’ll talk lightly on performance specification and critical design considerations. These range from static pressure, static regain, acoustic considerations, condensation, dispersion/throw and dispersion efficiency. The presentation will also review a wide array of application types from gyms, pools, retail, food processing, convention centers, industrial as well as some highly sensitive spaces of UFAD, laboratories, data centers, displacement ventilation and more.
Presenter
NICK PASCHKE
Nick Paschke serves as the Business Development Manager for DuctSox Corporation, where he specializes in a spectrum of commercial, educational, and critical applications. With a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Nick has dedicated over 25 years to DuctSox, becoming a pivotal member of various sales, marketing, and product development teams that have contributed to the growth of the textile market. He holds over 17 patents as a named inventor, showcasing his innovative contributions to the industry.
In addition to his role at DuctSox, Nick actively collaborates with organizations such as ASHRAE and the CBE, focusing on enhancements in Underfloor Air Distribution (UFAD) systems, including the ASHRAE UFAD Design Guide. His technical expertise and comprehensive product knowledge position him as a leader in addressing complex challenges related to acoustics in air dispersion, and sustainability. His experience spans highly sensitive laboratories to acoustically demanding environments, such as the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas.
Nick was an integral member in identifying the need for DuctSox and ZOO Fans to obtain their Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). He has shared his insights at prominent national forums such as MEP2040. Additionally, he has served as a peer reviewer with PNNL, assisting in the development of a tool for equipment manufacturers to efficiently assess Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs).
In his current role, Nick channels his extensive HVAC expertise into diverse environments, which include large sports stadiums, arenas, auditoriums, community and retail spaces, indoor pools as well as office environments utilizing UFAD systems. His presentation promises to provide valuable insights drawn from years of experience in the HVAC industry.
