Topic

4 Steps to Net Zero

Overview

ASHRAE 90.1-2022 is the first of four editions leading to Net Zero in 2031. ASHRAE and the DOE have committed that 90.1 will be a Net Zero Carbon Code by 2031 and this presentation will show the path ASHRAE 90.1 will take to reach this goal. This presentation is an after dinner-sized serving of the changes made since 90.1-2019, with examples of how they can be used to improve your designs today.

Presenter

McHenry “Mack” Wallace

McHenry “Mack” Wallace has been a full voting member of the ASHRAE 90.1 committee for over 25 years. He has been an instructor for the ASHRAE Learning Institute since 2004 and developed content for the 90.1 Learning Institute 90.1 courses since 2007. Mack is a Life Member of ASHRAE.

Mack was born and raised in Oak Cliff and graduated from Kimball HS. He went to Rice University and is a past president of the Dallas Mechanical Contractors Association. Mack served as Vice President of the Dallas ASHRAE chapter and learned how to make money doing mechanical design from Alan Smith, a past president of the Dallas ASHRAE chapter. He went to Fort Worth to work for Russell Laird at Carter Burgess, where he became one of 40 partners in the then 2000-person firm. Mack came back to Dallas to help TXU build an energy services building as Director of Design Build Services for TXU Energy Solutions.

Mack is now the Global Director of Mechanical Design – Federal for Jacobs, the number 1 design firm in the Book of Giants. He also has his own company, WiseWatt LLC, that has developed a patented Digital Twining product.
